Location 3 - Common Room

We chose the common room as a location possibility as this would be a good place to shoot a tense scene. This is because it is a social area and will show that there can be conflict in a friendly place. This would also be a good location possibility because it is a big area with seating so that the two characters can sit and have a confrontation. However, once again this is a busy place and it is hard to find a time when there isn't alot of people hanging around, this would make it difficult to film because there would be again unwanted background noise. This can then turn into an advantage if the idea was to film in a busy places because its will sound realistic.

The First Shot would be a close up of the characters hand opening the door as she is about to go into the common room. If we shot it at a high angle with a point of view shot, this would mean that the character is looking down at their hand. This could mean that she is scared/worried that something is about to happen (the confrontation). If it was to be shot at eye level this could again be inerpreted that something is about to happen and give the audience some suspence for a few seconds.

The second shot will be revealing who is on the other side of the door. This will intrigue the audience because it will show them what the character looks like. We want to create a tense atmosphere as the subject walks through the door, we discussed if the subject where to run through the door across the room but we decided running wouldn't create the tense impression we want. We decided to maintain a low lighting throughout the extract to create a mysterious atmosphere.

In the picture above you can see May is sitting down in a chair, how we should film her as she walks across the room and gets to where she is sitting down is the question. the camera could do a tracking shot of the character or we could pan the character walking across the room. We could also do a point of view shot which means that the camera is the second character watching them walking towards them. (Even thought this picture shows happiness) the atmosphere we wish to create is tension and confilct.
